maybe they think we have enough promising prospects that they feel they don't necessarily need to make another move because of the amount of roster spots available?

I really like what the Devils are doing. No cup next year, for sure... but will fight for a playoff spot.

Whether you guys get one or not, whatever- look at the prospect pool and core you're building. It's a damned good thing.

Simmonds is third line quality now. If he starts on second to give Jesbo time to adjust fine. Otherwise, and stealing this....Doomed.

Got a feeling more stuff is happening this off season because there are a lot of teams with bad cap situations. I think Shero will take advantage of somebody looking to dump contracts.

there is an article on TSN with Hall saying the players fought for right for FA and it seemed like he wanted to follow in JT's footsteps. It wasnt a hopeful read. If Hall gave Shero any inclination he won't sign, I hope the more deals you speak of are shipping Hall out.

what article?

also, i don't think him talking about players fighting for their rights has anything to do with his resigning possibilities. He's going to get paid for sure whether he signs an extension or gets offers in free agency. If anything he's more talking about how earlier in his career his contract with the Oilers was devalued because of RFA negotiating status.

Honestly, this whole speculative talk about Hall not wanting to resign because he hasn't signed a new contract yet is boring. It's like the majority of you have already accepted he's gone.

I can’t link but here’s the copy paste job
We talked before the P.K. trade and usually we meet at one point in summer, which I'll do with him a little bit later in July," Hynes said. "So all things are good with him. I think he's excited about the additions that we have on our team. And it's nice to see him in a good frame of mind. He's moving along and training [in Toronto] the right way."

Hall, meanwhile, said earlier this summer he could follow John Tavares and Artemi Panarin and test the free agent market next July.

"You're starting to see players want to – I don't know if it's paid what they're worth – but they want to see what's out there and see what the other 30 teams have to offer," Hall said in June. "That's in the players' rights. That's what we fought for.

"If you have time, I think it's wise to take it and make sure you make the right decisions."

I think we just prepping for the worst.. neids kovy Parise..

Why would that be alarming? He's going to do the things that gets him the money he's worth. Good for him.

Also not having Kovy and Parise right now is a blessing. It put the team in a poop spot at the time but those contracts would be so terrible right now. And with Nieds everybody knew he wanted to play with his brother and Anaheim wouldn't trade Rob to us even though Lou tried.

Yea I saw that article and the hall quotes are definitely alarming..there is a strong possibility that Taylor will test FA no matter what ray does. If that's the case screw him he ain't more important than the team trade him asap for a no 2 d (no more picks please)

I hope that's not our 2nd line.. Boqvist-Hughes-Simmonds.. yikes. The whole line is one big liability. I'd be ok with it as a 3rd line. Hughes needs someone solid next to him.

Of course its alarming and to put it into perspective if Greene said this people would be applauding!

From a fans POV, you don't want an MVP, leader of your team even thinking these disturbing thoughts.

Two of those players have yet to play an NHL game. I agree they are very promising players, but paired with Simmonds on his career worst season leaves plenty of room for doubt. I still think we need a #2RW, and Simmonds can play on a physical line with Coleman and Zajac. May we are fine as-is, but Shero has been dominating the trade market and a couple of teams are quite vulnerable under these cap constraints.

Bang on!!!! Absorbing 50% of his final season would make this guy an absolute monster addition for any contender! And I don't see Halls return being anything less than 2 1sts and a top 6 forward. If we part ways, so be it. It's a business, and a very dangerous contract for the Dev's considering he will be 29 years old just one month into his extension....

Maybe Hall with a 3M cap hit, and Zacha to Toronto for Marner..........

Seems a bit lopsided considering Hall is an MVP.

sounds like he is interested in taking a bigger role in the player's union, which is beneficial for his career. but I guess we can also just assume that means he doesn't want to play for us any more and just contract the team already.

I'm not sure how much teams will want UFA Hall, knowing his age and injury history. He's not OLD, but not young either. I keep thinking it would be great to get a haul from him, like it's an obvious choice.. so maybe other teams know it may be an obvious choice to not spend top dollar on Hall. He COULD workout for us, but there is definite risk.
